This grand investigation takes us to one of England’s most haunted locations. The
Viaduct Tavern in London’s business district.
The Tavern along with the Old Bailey was built on the site of Newgate Prison,
well known for its appalling conditions and public hangings, which continued until
1868.
The bar manager was kind enough to allow our team in for the entire night and perform
our experiments. It was to be a night of discovery, fear and of course the odd moment
of hilarity!
How did we prepare?
After an initial meeting of minds, we had decided that some of the team researched
the history and the other enter the site blind and we could compare our findings
with the facts at a later date. All of us were very excited to see what experiences
we would have.
How did we structure our investigation?
Those of us who entered the venue knowing very little about the history began by
setting up the equipment while those who did the research interviewed the bar manageress
to get a better idea of what we might expect and to also learn more about the place
and her experiences.
As well as our basic roles in the team, we anointed a couple of members as lead
investigators for the purpose of splitting up and performing smaller investigations.
We were able to communicate and perform simultaneous experiments with use of our
handy radio equipment.
We performed solo and mini-group watches involving both E.V.P (electronic voice
phenomena/ sound recording) sessions and “night vision” sessions in dimly-lit to
pitch-black conditions. As a group we performed several Ouija board séances which
proved frustrating (in parts), revealing and disturbing.
Everyone present would have to come to their own conclusions ultimately.
